MALAYSIA WINS 16 STATUES AT THE
30th ANNUAL LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS10 November 2015
BBDO PROXIMITY MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR IS AWARDED THE POSTER GRAND LIA
(New York, 10 November 2015) The 30th LIA judging was held at the SLS Hotel in Las Vegas, convening over a ten-day period. The juries, led by their respective Jury Presidents, viewed and scored every entry within their medium, ensuring that all the work was judged equally. They concluded with final discussions to determine Grand LIAs, Statue Winners and Finalists.
Malaysia picks up 16 Statues and 4 Finalists at LIA 2015 – 1 Grand LIA, 4 Gold, 8 Silver and 3 Bronze.
The Print, Poster, Billboard jury led by Matt Eastwood, Worldwide CCO, J. Walter Thompson, awarded BBDO Proximity Malaysia with the Poster Grand LIA for KFC titled “Burger”, “Drumstick”, “French Fries”.
BBDO Proximity Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is the big winner at LIA 2015, taking home one Grand LIA, three Gold, six Silver and one Bronze. They were awarded the Grand LIA in Poster for KFC titled “Burger”, “Drumstick”, “French Fries”.
They were also awarded:
“The challenge with the Print/Poster/Billboard medium is that every year there seems to be less work to judge,” stated Matt Eastwood. “It’s not the quality that is the issue, it’s the quantity. We saw some great work, but we were challenged when it came to selecting a Grand LIA in Print. Whilst we thought there was some very strong campaigns, we weren’t prepared to say that it was the very best print work in the world. It deserved to be recognized, but perhaps not at that level.
“Having said that, we were thrilled with the work in the Poster and Billboard categories and awarded Grand LIAs to KFC’s wonderful series of posters and Samsung’s “Safety Truck” respectively. The jury was looking for work that lifted creativity to a higher level. And, if possible, lifted society to a higher level as well. Both the Grands achieved that. The KFC posters lifted society to a higher level by putting out work that added charm and beauty to the world. Even better, Samsung produced a piece of work that will literally save countless lives. And there is no higher purpose than that.”
Barbara Levy, President of LIA, commented, “I am thrilled that one of seven Grand LIAs went to an agency in Malaysia. It is quite an achievement to win a Statue at LIA, but to win a Grand is a triumph. I would like to congratulate all the statue winners and finalists.
“It is an honour to win a LIA Statue, as the jury is comprised of the world’s top advertising, production and design creatives. Some of the juries include Mark Tutssel, Amir Kassaei, Matt Eastwood, Brian Collins, Malcolm Poynton, Pedro Prado, Emad Tahtouh, Ben Priest, Stephan Vogel, Eugene Cheong and John Mescall, just to name a few. LIA prides itself on having juries that have no political agenda, no block voting, and no pressure to vote for their network. Our juries are only concerned with awarding the best of the best. Obtaining a Statue is a significant milestone for any company, as it demonstrates recognition of the highest degree.”
