Richard is highly enthusiastic about creativity and that has never changed since he started his career in the advertising industry in 1993. He has set several records among the Taiwan industry, including winning Taiwan's first-ever Brand Entertainment Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions, and the Grand Prix in the Brand Entertainment category at Spikes Asia.
In 2016, Richard broke new ground in the Taiwan industry — he became the first Taiwanese creative to serve as the Jury President on an International Creative Awards panel, the first in 21 years to return to the Cannes Lions judging panel, and the first to have won, as "Greater China Creative of the Year" by the Campaign Asia-Pacific AOY Award. Furthermore, he consistently ranked in Campaign Brief Asia’s Creative Rankings as one of "Asia's Top 20 Most Awarded Creative Directors" during the period from 2016 to 2020. In March 2022, he was also appointed to the International Board of Directors for The One Club for Creativity, where he continues to devote his passion and energy to the creative community.
With his non-stop love for creativity, Richard builds an unconventional creative vision, leveraging the power of creativity and unique storytelling for all solutions. That resulted in numerous outstanding creative pieces, but has garnered him a plethora of accolades, gracing esteemed stages like Cannes Lions, D&AD, CLIO, The One Show, London International Awards, New York Festival, Spikes Asia, ADFEST, AD STARS, AWARD, One Show Greater China, LIA Chinese Creativity Show, and LongXi, amassing an impressive tally of over thousands awards, both on the global and domestic creative awards.
He leads his agencies which he worked in to win “Agency of the Year” in Greater China or Taiwan for 13 consecutive years (2008 ~ 2020, bates Taiwan and ADK Taiwan) in several famous international creative rankings, such as The Gunn Report, Campaign Brief Asia and Campaign Asia-Pacific and etc.
In 2023, Richard co-founded ROCK YU Creative, a new independent creative agency dedicated to breaking boundaries and leveraging creativity to create impactful brand engagement. Drawing on his extensive international experience, unwavering passion for creativity, and innovative creative vision, ROCK YU Creative is focused on building authentic connections that resonate with consumers and drives meaningful, long-term growth for brands.
Richard has judged at many prestigious creative competitions in the industry, including Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, London International Awards, New York Festival, Spikes Asia, ADFEST, AD STARS, One Asia Creative Awards etc., served as D&AD 2023 Experiential Jury President, ADFEST 2016 Direct Lotus Jury President, LIA Chinese Creativity Show 2021 Film and 2018 Branded Entertainment Jury President. Latest, he is invited to serve on Press and Outdoor Jury for D&AD 2025.
