Simon Vicars leads the Creative department of Colenso BBDO, and is recognised as the most awarded Creative in Australasia.
Prior to his return to Colenso he was Creative Director at adam & eve DDB. While there, he helped the UK hot-shop win Cannes Agency of the Year in 2018, and created the much celebrated ‘Don’t spread the hate’ campaign for Marmite, followed by ‘Marmite Mind Control’. He led work on Virgin Media, Mars and adidas – resulting in a ground-breaking collaboration between the sports apparel giant and EA Sport.
Vicars spent the first 10 years of his career in New Zealand creating iconic Kiwi ad campaigns like Instant Kiwi’s ‘Get a perm’, Pedigree’s Child Replacement Programme and the globally lauded Brewtroleum for beer brand DB Export.
Since taking the Chief Creative Officer role in 2021, he’s helped Colenso win the biggest creative and effectiveness awards in the world, as well as multiple agency of the year titles - including APAC Agency of the Year at LIA 2024.
