Joey David Tiempo is the Founder and CEO of Octopus&Whale, the Philippines’ pioneering game and experience design agency.
Joey was the first Filipina to serve on the inaugural Gaming juries of Cannes Lions and Spikes Asia, and most recently served as Jury President for Gaming & Virtual Worlds at D&AD. With over two decades of creative leadership, her work has earned global recognition from Cannes Lions, D&AD, One Show, Clio, LIA, Spikes Asia, AdFest, the Webby Awards, among others – reflecting a deep commitment to craft, culture, and resonance.
Previously an Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Digital Arts Network and later at Nuworks Innovation Labs, Joey considers her greatest achievement to be launching a start-up in the middle of a global pandemic. In just five years, Octopus&Whale has grown into a trusted creative partner to an impressive roster of clients across gaming, entertainment, tech, and youth culture, blazing a trail at the intersection of games and brand storytelling.
Joey is an avid gamer, frequent speaker, mentor to young creative entrepreneurs, servant to five cats, and mother to a prodigy. She co-hosts Keri Kita: Essential Guide for Parents of NonGamers, a podcast that helps parents navigate the gaming worlds their kids love.
