Advertising was just an alley that Rahul Mathew ducked into to avoid studying any further. But the alley turned out to be a rabbit hole and it has been quite a trip since.
He has worked in 9 agencies, across 3 cities and 2 countries. He recently took over as the Chief Creative Officer of the freshly-merged McCann India.
Previously, he was the CCO of the DDB Mudra Group. Under his leadership, the agency had one of its best-ever creative runs. Shiny stuff and honours were added to the dusty mantlepiece; right from Cannes, Spikes Asia, D&AD, One Show, Kyoorius, Effie’s, Warc to winning the inaugural D&AD Impact Prize Fund. For three years in a row, Campaign Brief Asia has ranked DDB Mudra Group amongst the top 3 agencies in India. The Immortal Awards ranked them as the #1 agency in India. The Global Effies Index has the DDB Mudra Group at #4 in Asia Pacific and #20 in the world. DDB Mudra Group was also the first Indian agency to be crowned APAC Agency of the Year at Spikes 2022.
He’s also actively involved in initiatives that influence the culture at the Group; especially around inclusivity and equal opportunities. The Group has seen the most number of women in senior creative positions in the last couple of years.
Outside of work he watches anything that qualifies as sport. Is a big fan of Chelsea FC. Probably holds the world record for the most number of orders in a year, on a food delivery app. Word of caution: Do not have an important conversation with him if there’s a dog around; he’s not listening.
