Heathrow has been recognized at this year’s London International Awards for its use of music and sound in its newest television advert, titled “First Flight”. The Television advert beat John Lewis’ Christmas advert to claim Gold in the category.
LIA (formerly known as London International Advertising Awards) is a worldwide Award which honours legends, pioneers, and embodiments of excellence in Advertising, Digital, Production, Design, Music & Sound and Technology. These awards were the first international award of its kind to acknowledge all media from all over the world and judged by a diverse global jury.
The advert celebrates Heathrow’s 70th anniversary and looks forward to another 70 years of first flights. Set to David Bowie’s “When I Live My Dream” from his debut 1967 album, the advert tells the story of the magic of a journey as seen through the eyes of a 5-year-old child and her companion, Owly. This is the first time Heathrow has launched a television advert, which was launched on social media and amplified through a range of channels including press outdoor and a radio partnership.

First Flight was created by advertising agency Havas and directed by DOM&NIC through Outsider productions.
