WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THEN AND NOW

Creative LIAisons Alumni Alexandre Girod and Julien Vergne tell us their story

LIA created the exclusive and sought after Creative LIAisons program in 2012 as a way of giving back to the industry that supports us. This educational program is fully-funded by LIA for young creatives from around the globe and features seminars, panel discussions, interactive workshops and the invaluable experience to sit in on statue discussions as they occur in real-time.

Since Creative LIAisons, we moved to BETC Paris, working on brands like Lacoste and Canal+. We won some awards, but winning a LIA is always a special feeling ever since that week.

Creative LIAisons was a really key moment for us. Meeting all these creatives from all around the world, was both a real inspiration and a sense of relief. We were challenged and comforted by meeting all these people, coming from top agencies who strive to create great work; not only the fellow creatives who attended the program, but also, the speakers. Hearing Nick Law or Mark Tutssel talk about our industry gave us the mixed feeling of “oh it’s very demanding, the level is very high,” but also “it’s exciting, because it’s where we want to be.”

Creative LIAisons was also very beneficial, because it doesn’t just last one week. You bring this experience with you throughout your career. We keep in contact with other creatives. We meet up whenever we can. We also continue to see what they do and keep being inspired and challenged; it’s a virtuous cycle.

The opportunity to observe the jury’s deliberation during Creative LIAisons was also very instructive. We learned a lot about the way we have to present our work. There are things you can’t imagine when you prepare your case study.
