2018 LONDON INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Jung von Matt, Hamburg named Global Independent Agency of the Year and Regional Independent Agency Of The Year for Europe

Jung von Matt named Regional Network of the Year

Markenfilm, Hamburg named Regional Production Company of the Year for Europe

ANORAK Film, Berlin was awarded the Production & Post-Production Grand LIA

Serviceplan Germany, Munich was awarded the Package Design Grand LIA

 

(New York, 5th November 2018) LIA, one of the most prestigious Global award shows in Advertising, Digital, Technology driven work, Health & Pharma and Branded Entertainment, today announced the winners. The 33rd Annual London International Awards judging convened over a 10-day period. The Juries, drawn from the world’s most recognized talent and presided over by industry leaders, viewed and scored every entry within their medium, ensuring that all the work was judged equally.

 

This year Germany brought home 111 of the coveted LIA statues – two Grand LIAs, 33 Gold, 35 Silver, 41 Bronze and attained 33 Finalists.

 

In total 705 LIA statues, in addition to finalists, were awarded from 40 countries with Germany ranking #2. The top countries were United States (211), Germany (111), Australia (53), United Kingdom (50), and Canada (41).

 

“What a stunning amount of Statues from Germany! And we are not surprised.  Every year, Germany ranks among the top most awarded countries in the Show,” said Barbara Levy, President of LIA. “Jung von Matt, Hamburg deserves a special note of congratulations as they were also named Global Independent Agency of the Year, beating out several other worthy contenders”, she added.

 

Jung von Matt, Hamburg was named Global Independent Agency of the Year.  They were also named Regional Agency of the Year for Europe.

 

Jung von Matt, Hamburg awarded 12 Gold LIAs, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze. They also attained 6 Finalists.

All these wins contributed to Jung von Matt being named Regional Network of the Year for Europe.

 

LIA’s Of The Year Awards are calculated based on a point system of winning work chosen by the Juries across all media. LIA uses the creative credits that are input at time of entry to award those points. The Network, Agency, Production Company, Post-Production Company, Music & Sound Company, Radio & Audio Company and Health and Medical Companies that attain the highest scores based on entries that win Statues or attain Finalists’ status will be honored with Of The Year Award

 

Ivo van Vollenhoven, Managing Partner / EP - Twentyfour Seven, Barcelona and LIA Production & Post-Production juror, commented on the Grand LIA, “This year I was very impressed with the overall entries of work in Craft Production & Post Production. Notable work specially from Australia and the US, however this year we gave the Grand LIA to a job that came from Germany produced by Anorak films with Director Daniel Wolfe, Mini Cooper “The Faith of a Few”. A true masterpiece of craft in every single department, an overall 10 out of 10 in Direction, Production Design, Cinematography and Editing. A compelling piece for work that has successfully reenacts period scenes with so much detail and realism, the camera work, the textures, I could go on and on dissecting this master piece of cinematic craft.”

 

ANORAK Film, Berlin was awarded the Production & Post-Production GRAND LIA by the Production & Post-Production and Music Video jury led by Rob Galluzzo, Founder of FINCH, Sydney. The Grand LIA was awarded for BMW Group MINI Brand Management titled “The Faith of a Few”.  “The Faith of a Few” was awarded a total of five statues:

“I feel quite privileged to have chaired the 2018 LIA Production & Post-Production jury. The jury was made up of wonderfully articulate people at the top of their game. All in all it’s the best jury I’ve been a part of. As usual, the good work rose to the top. We were impressed by the high caliber of craft this year. We witnessed some wonderful films where craft was in the service of the creative idea,” stated Rob Galluzzo. “As for the Grand LIA... it was an almost perfect example of all the different disciplines coming together at the highest level to deliver a masterful piece of film. Truly world class.”

 

The Package Design Grand LIA was awarded to  SERVICEPLAN Germany, Munich for the Structural Packaging for Beck's titled “Le Beck's: The Legendary Beer Can”

 

"For me, it was love at first sight. I have never seen anything like this. I think the shape of the packaging is a real game changer. Everything from the craftsmanship of the glass to its finish was seamless," explained Isabelle Dahlborg Lidström, Head of Experience / Creative Director at GROW, Stockholm.
