(New York, 5th November 2018) LIA, one of the most prestigious Global award shows in Advertising, Digital, Technology driven work, Health & Pharma and Branded Entertainment, today announced the winners. The 33rd Annual London International Awards judging convened over a 10-day period. The Juries, drawn from the world’s most recognized talent and presided over by industry leaders, viewed and scored every entry within their medium, ensuring that all the work was judged equally.
The United Kingdom brought home 50 of the coveted LIA statues and attained 13 Finalists - 2 Grand LIAs, 17 Gold, 19 Silver, and 12 Bronze.
In total 705 LIA statues, in addition to finalists, were awarded from 40 countries. The top countries were United States (211), Germany (111), Australia (53), United Kingdom (50), and Canada (41).
“There is certainly no shortage of creative talent or work coming out of the UK as evidenced by the fact that they won two Grand LIAs and a swag full of Statues. They are always the standard bearers for the industry. Congratulations to all the winners,” remarked Barbara Levy, President of LIA.
Microsoft titled “Xbox Design Lab Originals: The Fanchise Model” entered by McCann London was awarded the Grand LIA in Digital. Six different juries also awarded “The Fanchise Model” nine statues - 6 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze. All these wins contributed to McCann Worldgroup being named Global Network of the Year.
Corinna Falusi, Chief Creative Officer and Partner at Mother New York and LIA’s Digital Jury President, commented, “There is nothing unusual about Xbox letting people customize their controllers. But what made this idea so great is that people could own their customized controller and sell them. The more people buy your design the more you earn. Turning consumers into entrepreneurs. Which makes it to one of the best e-commerce ideas ever. It uses everything digital has to offer, from e-commerce to the platform itself, to promoting the designs on social. And it's perfectly executed.”

We did award a Grand to Nike “Nothing Beats a Londoner”. We definitely had an interesting debate about why that was the right piece of work. We loved the Nike piece because in every aspect of it, it was so be beautifully crafted, it was a great idea but it was also beautifully written, the music was fantastic, the cinematography was amazing, the combination of bringing in animation elements was incredible. I think we wanted to say to everyone this is a great example, it is a fairly traditional piece of film but it shows the impact you can have when you do great work.”
