London International Awards Announces the
2022 Of The Year Winners For The Middle East and Africa

IMPACT BBDO Dubai named Regional Agency of The Year for the Middle East and Africa
DejaVu Dubai named Regional Production Company of The Year for the Middle East and Africa
Motif Studios Cape Town named Regional Post-Production Company of The Year for the Middle East and Africa

(New York, 8th November, 2022) Today, London International Awards (LIA), continuing its tradition of a total focus on creativity reveals its 2022 Global and Regional of The Year Winners.

LIA has the highest calibre of jurors from across the globe. All rounds of judging were done onsite in Las Vegas. Our judging process has no pre-judging. Each juror sees every piece of work in their respective Categories. Each jury, along with their President, convened in their judging room to discuss and debate thoroughly before deciding on the Winners. This ensures that all work was judged equally through careful deliberations and robust discussions.

Of The Year Awards are calculated based on a point system allocated to the winning work chosen by the Juries across all competitions. LIA uses the creative credits that are input at the time of entry to award those points, regardless of the entrant.

IMPACT BBDO, Dubai is named Regional Agency of the Year for the Middle East and Africa. For the first time in the show, there are two Grand LIAs from the United Arab Emirates both were awarded to IMPACT BBDO, Dubai. The Health & Wellness jury awarded them the Grand LIA for TENA titled “Despair No More” whilst the Non-Traditional jury awarded the Grand LIA for AnNahar Newspaper titled “The Elections Edition”. In total, they have a staggering five Gold, six Silver and one Bronze for those two pieces of work.

The work on TENA was praised by the jury as they created a shift in culture.  It was their creativity which galvanized a society to have the word “menopause”, which means “age of despair” in Arabic, changed to a different word in the dictionary. The other Grand LIA – AnNahar Newspaper wowed the jury with a simple yet powerful idea in Non-Traditional. When Lebanese officials complained that shortages of paper and ink needed to print ballots could cancel the upcoming elections. An-Nahar decided to go silent for the first time in its 88 years of existence. Instead, the paper and ink that were to be used for that day's edition were instead used towards a greater cause - the printing of voting ballots. It wasn’t about doing an ad. It demonstrated how powerful ideas come in different shapes and forms, but they change the world.

Barbara Levy, President of LIA, said, “It’s always heartening when creativity helps make positive changes in a community.  Our two Grand LIAs from IMPACT BBDO, Dubai are prime examples.  Congratulations to all the statue winners in the Middle East and Africa. We are excited to see more powerful work from this region pushing the creative envelope in 2023.”

Impact BBDO’s winning work “The Elections Edition” was produced by DejaVu, Dubai, the points attained for this work garnered them the title of Regional Production Company of The Year for the Middle East and Africa.

Motif Studios, Cape Town was named Regional Post-Production Company of The Year for the Middle East and Africa for winning work for Jif entered by the agency, PSOne.

In total, 754 LIA statues and 230 finalists were awarded to 45 countries with the United States leading with 254 wins, followed by Germany with 87, the United Kingdom with 53 and India with 37 statue winners.
