LIA Insider Issue 278: LIA Judging Kicks Off in Las Vegas

08 October 2023

IN SEARCH OF GLORY IN SIN CITY

LIA 2023 Begins in Las Vegas with the First Four Jury Sessions

DAY 1 BEGINS:

Some of the biggest names in the business have descended upon Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, defying the lure of the card tables for a far bigger stake: the judging of the world’s best work in four categories: TV/Cinema and Online Film; Ambient & Activation, Print, Poster and Billboard; Creativity in The Metaverse and Evolution; Transformative Business Impact and Creative Use of Data.

LIA’s Chairman, Terry Savage adds, “It’s a huge pleasure to welcome some of the creative greats to our unique judging experience. Each juror is required to see every piece of work on-site, with no online pre-judging to ensure the utmost transparency, inclusion and rigor in the judging process.”

The TV/Cinema and Online Film Jury
Begins Their Watch Party

Led by Jury President Daniel Fisher, Global Executive Creative Director of Unilever and Special Projects at Ogilvy, the jurors will meticulously evaluate each film over the next few days to select the cream of the crop. “For many of us, film is our first love. I look forward to discussing and debating the best films the industry has to offer,” shares Fisher.

The Ambient & Activation, Print,
Poster and Billboard Jury
Embarks on Their Vital Journey

Guan Hin Tay, Creative Chairman of BBDO Singapore, leads the jury in their vital task of scrutinizing each entry to determine the world’s best work in this category. Tay comments, “We’re seeking refreshing ideas that challenge conventional thinking within the categories.”

The Transformative Business Impact and Creative Use of Data Jury
Kicks off with a Bang

The figurative starting gun fires for Jury President Adam Ferrier, Chief Thinker of Thinkerbell and his jury, as they spend the next few days uncovering the most transformative work in the categories. “This isn’t an easy category: entries would need to demonstrate how they creatively transform a business in a scalable and impactful way,” the Chief Thinker said.

Today, 120 top young creatives from 28 countries will attend Creative LIAisons, a once-in-a-lifetime on-site training experience. They’ll enjoy unparalleled access to global industry icons like Mark Tutssel, Susan Credle, Brian Collins and Shark Tank star Daymond John, as well as a front-row seat to observe this week’s LIA Statue discussions. Conceived 12 years ago, the Creative LIAisons is LIA’s way of giving back to the industry: this exclusive programme is fully funded by LIA, with delegates' flights and accommodations all paid for.
