Josy started BBDO India from the backseat of his car - in 2008.
In 2016, he was named 'Creative Agency Head of The Year' by the Indian Advertising Association (IAA).
He is ranked among the most influential people in Indian advertising - according to The Economic Times. 
He was inducted into Advertising Club Calcutta's Hall of Fame in 2020. 
Josy and his partner Ajai Jhala pioneered the idea of brand movements in 2008 with their philosophy ‘Create acts, not ads’.
Josy is known for transformational movements such as Ariel #ShareTheLoad, Whisper #TouchThePickle and 'Women Against Lazy Stubble' for Gillette.
This has led to worldwide recognition with over 24 awards at Cannes, including the Cannes Lions Grand Prix. And the most effective campaign in the world, twice (WARC).
Before setting up BBDO India, Josy set up the challenger agency for Ogilvy in June 2000 and called it ‘David’. David is now a worldwide network.
To this day Josy has remained a challenger whose work has changed culture and built highly effective world-famous brands.
In December 2023, Josy was recognized as Asia-Pacific Creative Leader of the Year (Commendation).
Josy Paul was born during an earthquake and has a permanent tremor. He is waiting for the rebirth and renaissance of wonder.
